In one of my previous blogs I had designated February 20th as the day that I was "Reborn" in the spiritual, Christian sense. This blog effectively will not only show past blog writings from a previous post but new ones as well.
My kumu hula (teacher) added on to my middle name. My middle name is Kau'ilanihina - - Hina was added to my name since Hina is a goddess the mother of a demi-god Maui. Maui is the island from where I was born and raised. Kaui'lani is my middle name meaning "heavenly beauty" so it goes to say the the complete name means "The heavenly beauty of Hina, mother of Maui."
In short, I am very proud to have this title. It shows my commitment to compassion in all its forms from God, the journey that I am making to spiritual rebirth and growth, and my commitment as a female and a mother.
Hina herself in some Polynesian legends makes an ascent to the moon (the heavens) and in some is known as Hina Ke Ahi. In whatever sense, this is the name that was given to me and fits appropriately as it represents where I came from and where I am going.
